NORTHFIELD, Minn. -- Ada Meyer (So./Seattle, Wash./Ingraham) and Caroline Mather (Jr./Highlands Ranch, Colo./Mountain Vista) both won two events as the Carleton College women’s swimming and diving team hosted No. 11-ranked University of St. Thomas for the first dual meet of the 2017-18 season.

Meyer was first to the wall in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:08.64) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:30.02). She also combined with Emma Lederer (So./Madison, Wis./West), Anna Gergely (Jr./Denver, Colo./Jewish Day School), and Anisa Lester (Sr./Corte Madera, Calif./The Branson School) on Carleton’s top entry in the 200-yard medley relay, which finished with a season-best time of 1:53.92.

Mather started the evening with a fourth-place result in the 200-yard freestyle, but the junior bounced back and was first to touch the wall in the 50-yard freestyle (24.53) and 100-yard freestyle (54.09). She also leadoff the 200-yard freestyle relay, joining with Lester, Eveline Dowling (Jr./Iowa City, Iowa/Iowa City West) and Morgan Mayer (So./Garret Park, Md./Georgetown Day) on a season-best time of 1:43.10.

Lederer had the Knights’ other swimming triumph of the meet, winning the 100-yard backstroke in 1:03.56. She was also third in the 200-yard backstroke and fourth in the 200-yard IM.

Amy Roach (Sr./Bethesda, Md./Bethesda Chevy Chase) took top honors in the 1-meter diving competition (222.60 points) and was second on the 3-meter board (195.65)

Carleton challenged the nationally-ranked Tommies but came up short in the team competition, 180-119.

The Knights will be back at Thorpe Pool next Friday, Nov. 10 for a 6 p.m. dual meet with Hamline.
