NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Carleton College women’s swimming and diving team posted six top-4 results at the Cows, Colleges, and Contentment Classic. The diving portion of the meet was held at Carleton, while the swimming events were contested at Northfield Middle School.
The four-team field at the meet included St. Cloud State University, a D-II program, as well as UW-La Crosse, and Northfield foes Carleton and St. Olaf College.
The Knights’ top placement came in the day’s final event, with a runner-up result in the 200-yard freestyle relay as Caroline Mather (Jr./Highlands Ranch, Colo./Mountain Vista), Anisa Lester (Sr./Corte Madera, Calif./The Branson School), Morgan Mayer (So./Garret Park, Md./Georgetown Day), and Eveline Dowling (Jr./Iowa City, Iowa/Iowa City West) combined on a time of 1:43.73.
Emma Lederer (So./Madison, Wis./West), Ada Meyer (So./Seattle, Wash./Ingraham), Anna Gergely (Jr./Denver, Colo./Jewish Day School), and Mather started meet with a third-place showing in the women’s 200-yard medley relay as the Knights reached the wall in 1:54.58.
Mather figured in a third-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle at 5:33.91, while Kate Grossman (Fy./Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township) took third in the 400-yard IM at 5:09.12.
Meyer (1:11.77) and Grossman (2:32.82) posted fourth-place results in the 100-yard breaststroke and 200-yard butterfly, respectively.
Carleton will host its first dual meet of the season on Friday, Nov. 3 when St. Thomas visits Thorpe Pool at 6 p.m.
