Knights fall to regionally-ranked Blugolds

Northfield, Minn. - Melley Turner (Fy./St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy) scored her third goal of the season in the 40th minute, but that was all the offense that the Carleton College women's soccer could muster, as they fell 6-1 to the fifth-ranked team in the Central region in UW-Eau Claire.

The BluGolds (11-1-3) outshot the Knights 24-8, 17-5 on shots on goal, as Carleton (3-9-2) had difficulty stringing together possession against the team whose lone loss came against the third-ranked team in the country, Macalester.

Yusi He (Fy./South Pasedena, Calif.) made 11 saves for the Knights, as she did all that she could to withstand the constant BluGold attack.

Marcia Foltz scored two goals to lead UW-Eau Claire, and Maria Iaizzo, Jessica Millard, and Allison Smith all also tallied to the Blugolds, who were also the beneficiaries of an own goal.

Carleton will now have almost a week to rest and prepare to face the third-ranked Scots, who are undefeated and atop the MIAC table. The Knights will travel to St. Paul on Tuesday, Oct. 25 for the 7:30 p.m. match.
