Avery Trapp earns first All-America Award

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Carleton College goalkeeper Avery Trapp was named to the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer All-America Second Team by the United Soccer Coaches. She is the fifth player in program history to collect All-America accolades and the first to do so as a goalie.

United Soccer Coaches honored 52 players overall, 13 each across its first, second, third, and fourth-team All-America squads. This is the third consecutive year that Carleton's roster included an All-American (see chart below).

Trapp started all 24 games during her junior year, going 18-3-3 as Carleton made its first trip to the Elite Eight since 2008. Her career ledger of 42-7-12 has already smashed the team record for goalie wins.

She is the Division III leader in goalie minutes played this season with 2113:19. She tied the team record (see chart below) with 12 shutouts this fall, a total that tied for third in the nation heading into this weekend's Final Four. Trapp now has a program-record 29 career shutouts, the sixth-best total among active D-III keepers.

She finished the campaign second in the region and 25th in the country with a 0.511 goals against average, the fifth-best single-season GAA in program history (see chart below). That lowered Trapp's career goals against average to 0.558, second best in recorded team history and seventh among active D-III goalkeepers.

Trapp had 73 saves this season, raising her career total to 187, sixth-best in recorded team history. Her .859 save percentage this fall was a career-best and ranked third in the region.

Trapp opened the NCAA Championships with back-to-back shutouts, including a blanking of Lake Forest College, the fourth-highest scoring team in the nation. After a 1-1 (2OT) draw with Swarthmore College during the Sweet Sixteen, Trapp stopped two penalty kicks and scored the clinching goal in the Knights' 4-2 shootout victory.
