St. Paul, Minn. – Nicky Bloom's first collegiate goal in the 74th minute pushed the Carleton College women's soccer team past Hamline University, 1-0.
The Knights (2-7-1, 2-4-0 MIAC) outshot the host Pipers 15-4, but only 6-4 in shots on goal.
Rookie Yusi He (South Pasedena, Calif.) picked up her second shutout in four starts, making three saves in net in picking up her second win of the season. She made a diving save just moments after Bloom's goal.
Bloom headed home a cross from reserve Johanna Dijkstal to put Carleton into the lead.
The Knights return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 11, traveling back to St. Paul to face the College of St. Catherine for a 4 p.m. match.
