Northfield, Minn. - Amy Ravenhorst scored in the 50th minute to lift MIAC-leading Concordia-Moorhead past Carleton College. Yusi He (Fy./South Pasadena, Calif.) made five saves to keep the Knights within a goal, but the Knights offense could only muster one shot on goal as they fell to Concordia 1-0.
Concordia hit the post twice and were denied multiple times by He before they finally broke through. Ravenhorst received a ball from Rachel Lewis just inside the top of the box, and hit a shot into the side netting that curled away from He.
Two minutes before the goal, He made a fantastic save to keep Carleton level, as she dove to her right to parry a Morgan Bain shot off of the cross bar.
The Knights had their best opportunity of the game in the 9th minute, as Sophie Wood (Fy./Lake Forest, Ill.) curled a corner kick off the near post, narrowly missing a sensational goal.
Carleton (1-7-1, 1-5-0 MIAC) was outshot 18-5 by the visiting Cobbers, who improved to 9-1-0 on the season, and 6-0 in the MIAC. Concordia entered today's match averaging a league-leading 3.11 goals per game, but the Knights defense did well to limit the Cobbers to only a goal.
Next up for the Knights is a trip to St. Paul to face Hamline Univeristy on Friday. Match time is 4:30 p.m.
