Northfield, Minn. – Sophie Wood (Fy./Lake Forest, Ill.) scored off a corner kick in the 71st minute, but visiting Augsburg College scored a golden goal in the 92nd minute to beat Carleton College, 2-1.
Emily Anderson scored both Augsburg goals. She has scored all of Augsburg's goals in its last three victories, all in league play.
The Auggies are now 6-0-2 overall, 3-0-0 in MIAC play. Carleton is now 0-5-1 overall, 0-3-1 in MIAC play.
Anderson scored her first goal, unassisted, in the 44th minute, carrying the ball up the right side and shooting a hard ground shot to the right corner. Her game-winning goal, also unassisted, came at the 91:39 mark, a shot from just inside the penalty box to the near lower right corner.
Wood's goal from just inside the box in the 71st minute tied the score.
Carleton outshot Augsburg by a 10-7 margin. Emily Muirhead (So./Minneapolis/Southwest) started in goal for Carleton but was relieved by Jenna Bernhardson (So./Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson) who made one save.
Both teams return to MIAC action on Wednesday, Sept. 28. Carleton hosts St. Thomas at 4 p.m., while Augsburg hosts Macalester at 7:30 p.m. at Edor Nelson Field.
