River Falls, Wis. –– Melley Turner (Fy./St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy) scored on a first-half breakaway for her first collegiate goal in her first college contest, but host UW-River Falls scored twice in the second half to rally past Carleton College, 2-1.
The Knights (0-1) outshot the Falcons 6-5 in the first half, including Turner's tally in the 29th minute to stake Carleton to a 1-0 halftime lead.
The Falcons (1-0) used goals in the 47th and 73rd minutes to gain the lead.
Carleton was out-shot 11-9, including 7-5 in shots on goal. Jenna Berhardson (So./Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson) made three saves but allowed two goals in suffering the loss.
The Knights return to action on Sunday, Sept. 4, hosting the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire, at 2 o'clock at Bell Field.
