WHAT I MOST LIKE ABOUT CARLETON IS…
The people! The community at Carleton is very supportive and I've made some incredible friends in my time here.
 
INTERNSHIP/EXTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES DURING MY TIME AS A CARLETON STUDENT:
I spent two summers teaching Biology and Chemistry for Breakthrough Collaborative, and I spent last summer doing marine research for Mike Nishizaki in the Bio department.
For my teaching job I built a curriculum for a 6-week summer program and learned classroom management skills while also helping with some of the non-academic activities like the end of summer Celebration and field day. For my research I spent 10 weeks at Friday Harbor Labs in Washington researching mussel behavior and physiology. During that time I was working under a larger grant that includes 3 professors from 3 different universities with the goal of understanding how mussel groups affect the environment around them.
 
MY INTERNSHIP/EXTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES ENHANCED MY EXPERIENCE AS A CARLETON STUDENT-ATHLETE BECAUSE…
Both opportunities allowed me to become more independent and organized, which helped with my classes at Carleton. They also gave me a better idea of what my future after undergrad could look like, which helped me to see where my time at Carleton fits into the bigger picture of my life.
