COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – The Carleton College men's tennis team defeated Saint John's University, 7-0, in the Knights' final tune-up before the upcoming MIAC Playoffs. The teams began play outside but moved indoors after rain started to fall.
Carleton (17-6, 8-1 MIAC) got off to a quick start as
Akshay Garapati and
Jack Rivkin notched a 6-0 triumph at No. 1 doubles, tying
Ezra Bernhard and
Owen Heidtke, who won 6-3 at No. 3 doubles, for tops on the squad with 12 victories this season.
Zach Leslie and
Yihe Zhang added a 6-3 win at the second slot.
Miles Lee opened singles with a 6-1, 6-0 result at the sixth spot. Rivkin was next to finish, recording a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles. Leslie secured the team decision with his 6-2, 6-3 victory at the second slot.
Heidtke prevailed 6-1, 7-5 at No. 5 singles before Bernhard improved to 18-4 on the year by adding a 6-1, 6-2 triumph at the third slot. Garapati closed the day with a 6-2, 6-4 result atop the lieup.
"We had an incredible regular season, but it is now time to regroup and get ready for the postseason," said Carleton head coach

Carleton will host an opponent to be determined for the MIAC Playoffs semifinals on Friday, May 1. First serve is slated for 4:15 p.m.
