MINNEAPOLIS – The Carleton College baseball team lost a pair of games to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, falling by scores of 5-0 and 10-3 in neutral site games at U.S. Bank Stadium on Tuesday.
Game 1 — UWEC 5, Carleton 0
The Blugolds (4-2) scored four of the five runs with two out. They opened the scoring in the first inning as two walks preceded a two-out, two-run triple. UWEC capitalized on a pair of free passes to tack on another run in the second frame. A leadoff walk came around to score on a two-out double in the fifth inning, while a single, two stolen bases and a wild pitch brought the final run home in the sixth inning.
Carleton (0-4) was limited to one hit, a
Nathan Barnhart double in the top of the sixth inning.
Will Schnepf (0-1) took the loss, yielding four runs on three hits and five walks over 5.0 innings. Winning pitcher Nicholas Meuser (1-0) allowed the one hit and a walk with seven strikeouts.
Game 2 – UWEC 10, Carleton 3
UW-Eau Claire pushed across six runs in the second inning and did not look back, adding another tally in the third, two more in the fifth, and the last run in the sixth.
Trailing 7-0 in the fifth inning, the Knights got two of those runs back as
Brandon Damelin's single to center field chased home
Carlo Lissuzzo and Schnepf. Carleton's other run came across due to a throwing error in the sixth inning.
Carleton had seven hits in the game, including two by Damelin.

Carleton heads to Central Florida as the Knights are slated for eight games during their annual Spring Break trip. First up is a doubleheader against Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts on March 18.
