NORTHFIELD, Minn. –
Audrey Whitney and
Liesl McCallum had 11 points apiece to lead the Carleton College women's basketball game, but the Knights dropped a 73-36 game to Gustavus Adolphus College.
Gustavus (15-7, 11-4 MIAC), the defending MIAC co-champions, raced out to a 14-0 edge and led the remainder of the contest.
Carleton (7-15, 4-11 MIAC) made 24 percent of its shot attempts overall compared to 48 percent for the visitors. Neither side shot exceptionally well from the outside, with Gustavus going 6-of-21 (29 percent) beyond the arc while Carleton was 2-of-19 (11 percent). The Knights were able to get to the free throw line, going 14-of-30 (70 percent) at the stripe while limiting the Gusties to only six free throw attempts.
Ella Peters paced the Gusties with 20 points with Kaitlyn Schaefer chipping in 12 points.
McCallum added three more blocks to her season total, giving her 47 on the campaign and moving her into sole possession of third place on Carleton's single-season list. She also climbed into a tie for third place on the program's career blocked shots leaderboard (see charts below).
