Charlotte Henry matched her career high with seven points off the bench to round out the scoring for the hosts.
Carleton shot 38 percent overall and was 3-of-10 from beyond the arc, but the Knights took advantage of 27 fouls by Augsburg (5-14, 2-10 MIAC) to go 33-of-40 (.825) at the free throw line. That tied the third-highest made free throw total in recorded team history. Huss was a big part of that total as she went 14-of-15 at the charity stripe, tied for the third-most made free throws in program annals.
Augsburg led by as many as six points in the first quarter but entered halftime holding just a 34-33 advantage. It remained a one-possession game throughout the third quarter, with Whitney converting a driving layup in the closing moments to give Carleton a 49-47 edge entering the final stanza.
Carleton slowly widened its advantage to nine points on two occasions and still led by eight at 65-57 with less than three minutes remaining. Augsburg closed the gap by converting a pair of traditional 3-point plays and added a triple by Bear to pull within 66-64 with 0:51 still to play. The Knights were able to salt the game away at the line, going 8-of-10 in the final minute. All told, Carleton scored 21 of its 25 fourth-quarter points at the charity stripe.
The Auggies were led by Wakinyela Bear's 17-point performance off the bench, while Tyliah Frazier adding 12 points, and Lani Fonoti contributing 11 points. Augsburg shot 36.1 percent as a team and was 9-of-22 (.409) from 3-point range, and 11-of-13 (.846) at the charity stripe.
