Knights lose at Macalester

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Carleton College men's soccer team fell 3-0 at Macalester College in a matchup of regionally-ranked opponents.

Both sides attempted 11 shots, but the Scots (6-3-0, 1-1-0 MIAC) owned an 8-3 edge in both shots on goal and corner kicks.

Macalester found the first goal at the 10-minute mark. An initial shot by Zach Liptzin was saved by Carleton (5-3-0, 1-2-0 MIAC) goalkeeper Leo Kugel, but the rebound was picked up by Chris Frantz, who slotted the ball into the back of the net.

In the 59th minute in the second half, Macalester found an insurance tally. Jonathan Kim rifled a shot from the edge of the box into the top-right corner of the Carleton goal.

Macalester's final goal came with a little more than 12 minutes remaining. Kasdan Blattman lobbed a high ball over Carleton's defense, and Gaven Johnson chested the ball down at the edge of the 6-yard box before firing with the outside of his foot over Kugel and into the net.

Finn Lennon had one shot on goal for the Knights, while Ben Pennell was credited with the other two attempts on frame.
