NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Carleton College women's soccer team cruised to a 4–0 win over Hamline University behind goals from seniors Kathryn Kresse, Sam Gotch, and Claire Burbery plus junior Isabelle Connolly.
 
The Knights (4-1-2, 1-0-1 MIAC) controlled play throughout, finishing with a 29-1 advantage in shots with 15 of those attempts being on target.
 
After persistent pressure, the Knights found their opening with a stunning finish in the 29th minute. Receiving the ball just outside of the box, Kresse drilled a shot that came off the bottom of the crossbar and crossed the line. It was her team-leading fourth goal of the season and the 29th of her career, third best in program history (see chart below).
 
Zaraya Jordan struck the woodwork with a shot in the 43rd minute.
 
Hamline goalkeeper Maddox Fergus did her best to keep the Pipers (3-2-3, 1-1-0 MIAC) in the game, finishing with nine saves.
 
Carleton notched its second goal in the 65th minute. Ashlyn Haigh's rocket from 30 yards out rattled the right post. As Gotch ran onto the rebound she was taken down in the box, drawing a penalty. The keeper went one way, and Gotch calmly tucked the ball into the other side of the net to double the Knights' lead.
 
The hosts added another tally less than three minutes later. After a Hamline foul near the endline and just outside the box, Burbery finessed a low-angle freekick over the keeper and into the opposite corner.
 
Pushing for a consolation, the Pipers committed more players forward, which left them vulnerable at the back. In the 85th minute, Mia Anzalone played a well-weighted ball over the Hamline defense to Connolly, who slotted the ball under the substitute keeper for Carleton's fourth goal.
