NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Carleton College's Selma Vangstein and Grace Schwarz were both named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Women's Basketball Team for 2024-25. The is the first Academic All-District award for Schwarz, while Vangstein was previously tabbed to the 2022-23 team.
 
Each school can nominate a select number of student-athletes that meet the following criteria:
• at least a sophomore academically and athletically.
• at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average.
• compete in at least 90 percent of the institution's games or start at least 66 percent of the contests.
 
Vangstein, a computer science and physics double major, started all 25 games for the Knights this past season. The senior provided veteran leadership for a squad that had three rookies in the starting lineup and a fourth starter who had not played a collegiate game before this season. Vangstein played 32.6 minutes — second-highest on the roster — and averaged 6.0 points, 3.9 rebounds with 2.1 assists per game, with each figure representing a career high. A natural guard, she helped anchor the interior of the Carleton defense following the season-ending injury sustained by forward Bella Thomas.
 
Schwarz, a sophomore who will declare a major later this spring, played in 23 games, including four starts in her first season of games for Carleton. She averaged 11.8 minutes per contest and contributed 1.2 points and 1.5 rebounds. She finished second on the roster in blocked shots per minute played.
