ROCHESTER, Minn. – The No. 24-ranked Carleton College women's tennis team improved to 4-0 on the season with a 9-0 victory over Saint Mary's University.
Amelia Asfaw,
Mariam Nechiporuk, and
Ryann Witter each won in both singles and doubles for the Knights.
Carleton (4-0, 3-0 MIAC) made quick work in doubles, as Asfaw and Nechiporuk cruised to an 8-0 win atop the lineup, and
Amanda Black and
Kat Smiricinschi prevailed by the same score at No. 3 doubles. In between, Witter and
Ingrid Smith notched an 8-2 victory.
All six solo matches were decided in straight sets. Asfaw picked up a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles. The others were more lopsided as the Cardinals (6-3, 0-2 MIAC)—who entered the day riding a six-match win streak—won only four games across the other five solo contests.
Nechiporuk won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 singles, while
Miriam Shteyman followed with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at the third spot in the lineup.
Kiley Pickens notched the first team point in singles with her 6-1, 6-0 triumph at the fourth slot. Witter and
Piper Brown blanked their opponents at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively, by 6-0, 6-0 tallies.
