ROCHESTER, Minn. – The No. 24-ranked Carleton College women's tennis team made quick work of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in a neutral site match on Saturday. The Knights prevailed 7-0 and improved to 5-0 on the season.
The Knights swept the best-of-three doubles session.
Amelia Asfaw and
Mariam Nechiporuk prevailed 6-2 atop the lineup, with
Amanda Black and
Kat Smiricinschi winning by the same score at the third slot. Meanwhile,
Ingrid Smith and
Ryann Witter took down their opponents at No. 2 doubles by a 6-3 tally.
The singles matches were all straight-set victories for the Knights.
Witter swept Reese Burton 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 singles, and
Piper Brown won her No. 6 singles match against Morgan Dekan by the same score. Both Knights are now 4-0 this season.
Kiley Pickens triumphed at the fourth spot in the lineup, topping Olivia Herzog 6-2, 6-0.
Miriam Shteyman secured a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Beatriz Felchak at No. 3 singles, while
Mariam Nechiporuk won 6-4, 6-0 over Anne Lee at No. 2 singles.
Asfaw completed the sweep with a 6-0, 6-3 triumph over Samantha Fuchs at No. 1 singles.
Up Next for the Knights
Carleton will face No. 25-ranked Denison University in a non-conference neutral-site clash on Saturday, March 1. That competition will be held at Rochester (Minn.) Tennis Connection.
