Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Bethany Lutheran slips past Knights despite 35-point game for Addy Huss

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Addy Huss scored a career-best 35 points—tied for the second-highest single-game total in team history—and Audrey Whitney chipped in a season-best 26 points, but the Carleton College women's basketball team could not overcome the hot second-half 3-point shooting of visiting Bethany Lutheran College and dropped a 76-70 contest.

Carleton (2-2) raced out to a 12-2 lead and owned a 34-26 advantage at halftime, but Bethany Lutheran (2-3) went a blistering 9-of-11 (81.8%) from 3-point range in the second half to complete the comeback.

Huss' step back jumper knotted the game at 62-62 with 6:19 to play, but the visitors went on a 10-0 run over the next three minutes and maintained at least a six-point advantage the rest of the way.

Huss scored at least seven points in each quarter, and her 35-point effort was the most by a Carleton player since 1992 (see chart below). The point guard narrowly missed a fourth consecutive double-double as she collected nine rebounds and had three assists.

Huss and Whitney accounted for all of Carleton's scoring in an 18-point first quarter and 32 of the Knights' 34 first-half points. The duo combined for 15 more points in the third quarter, but Maggie Winesett and Taylor Dente each hit a 3-pointer to spread the scoring a bit. Huss and Whitney had seven points apiece in the final stanza, with Liesl McCallum—who grabbed nine rebounds on the game—hitting a free throw for Carleton's other point.

Kenadi Arndt led Bethany Lutheran with 22 points, with 14 of them coming after intermission. Megan Wegner and Morgan Hulke tallied 14 and 11 points, respectively, as the duo went a combined 6-of-6 from beyond the arc in the second half and 7-of-11 overall.

Bethany Lutheran finished the game shooting 46.0 percent overall and 45.8 percent (11-of-24) from long range. Carleton connected at a 46.4 percent clip and was 7-of-17 (41.2 percent) from beyond the arc.
