Knights roll to 7-0 victory over UW-Superior

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Five players won in both singles and doubles as the Carleton College women's tennis team extended its season-opening win streak to four matches with a 7-0 result over University of Wisconsin-Superior in non-conference action. The Knights (4-0) swept doubles and won all six singles matches in straight sets.
 
Kiley Pickens and Clara Mast got Carleton going with a 6-0 victory at No. 3 doubles. Algara Dineva and Kat Smiricinschi added a 6-2 result at the second slot, while Gabriela Cilella and Giana Marks captured the No. 1 doubles match by a 6-3 tally.
 
In singles, Marks was first to finish, blanking her opponent atop the lineup 6-0, 6-0 to remain undefeated on the season. Smiricinschi followed with a 6-2, 6-1 win at the sixth slot.
 
Rookies Dineva and Cilella both improved to 4-0 on the year as they cruised to wins at the fourth and fifth slots, respectively. The former prevailed 6-0, 6-1 with the latter claiming a 6-2, 6-1 win.
 
Pickens kept her perfect ledger with a 6-1, 7-6 (7-3) triumph at No. 2 singles, while Peggy Fu closed out the afternoon with a 7-6 (7-2), 6-2 win at No. 3 singles.
 
Up Next for the Knights
Carleton hosts its third match in as many days as the Knights face College of St. Scholastica on Sunday, Oct. 5. The first serve is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
