Game Recap: Women's Basketball | | Tyler Tutt '25

Liesl McCallum's big game goes for naught in loss to Hamline

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Liesl McCallum smashed her previous career high with a 19-point effort off the bench, but it was not enough as the Carleton College women's basketball team absorbed a 75-48 loss to Hamline University.

After a strong start, Carleton (2-10, 1-4 MIAC) was done in by a Hamline (8-4, 3-2 MIAC) squad that went 16-of-31 (51.6 percent) beyond the 3-point line.

The Knights shot 61.5 percent in the first quarter and led 18-14 after the opening 10 minutes of play. McCallum scored 10 points in the period.

Quarter number two was a different story, as the Hamline offense got rolling, starting the period with a 20-0 burst across the first 5:12. The Pipers out-scored Carleton 30-5 during the quarter and built a 44-23 advantage heading into intermission.

Camille Cummings, the second-best scorer in the MIAC, poured in 15 of her career high-tying 25 points during the Hamline second-quarter surge.

The Knights started the third quarter with a mini 8-2 run to pull within 46-31 but would get no closer over the balance of the contest.

Hamline shot 43.9 percent overall for the game, while Carleton made 39.1 percent of its shots and was only 2-of-11 from range.

McCallum finished one rebound shy of a double-double. Addy Huss followed suit with 14 points and eight rebounds.

The Hamline full-court press allowed the Pipers to score 32 points off the Knights' 28 turnovers.
