DULUTH, Minn. – The No. 21-ranked Carleton College men's soccer team faced its toughest test so far this season, hitting the road for a matchup against University of Wisconsin-Superior, a NCAA Tournament team from last fall. The two squads played to a 0-0 draw.
UW-Superior (0-0-2), a top-10 scoring offense in NCAA Division III last season, was aggressive on offense and took 21 shots, but the Yellowjackets managed to put only six of those attempts on goal. The Carleton (2-0-2) defense, which led D-III in lowest goals against average in 2023 at 0.297, was once again impenetrable. The Knights extended their season-opening shutout streak to 360 minutes.
Carleton took seven shots in the contest, with three of those – two by
Dylan Fox-Arnold and another by
Felix Shapiro – requiring Yellowjackets goalkeeper Alex Paredes to make a save.
Leo Kugel registered six saves in goal for the Knights and posted his second shutout of the season and the fourth of his career. Possibly his biggest save of the contest came in the closing moments, making a diving stop of a close-range shot with only eight seconds remaining in the game.
UW-Superior led in fouls committed and received four of the game's five yellow cards.
