RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The Carleton College men's soccer team remained undefeated this season after securing a 3-0 non-conference victory at University of Wisconsin-River Falls.
Briggs Priem,
Jeremiah Lanzillo, and
Owen Flanagan found the back of the net for the Knights.
The Knights (3-0-2) scored less than six minutes into the match. Flanagan sent a corner kick to the back post where
Alexander Grosse headed the ball down, allowing Priem to direct the ball across the goal line for his third score of the season.
A 41st-minute free kick led to the next Carleton score.
Dylan Fox-Arnold delivered the ball from the left wing toward the top of the six-yard box, where Lanzillo got in front of his defender and headed the ball home for his first tally of the season.
Flanagan concluded the scoring with his second goal of the season. In the 81st minute,
Dylan Stiffler chased down a long cross, played the ball back to
Hays Turner, who fed Flanagan for a 10-yard shot inside the far post.
Leo Kugel registered five saves in posting his third shutout of the season. He dove to his right to deny Landon Christiansen's penalty kick in the 74th minute then sprang back to his left to deny the point blank follow-up shot by Kellen Richardson.
Carleton finished with a 25-13 edge in shot attempts but only a closer 7-5 advantage in shots on goal.
