Audrey Whitney poured in 23 points, but the Carleton College women's basketball team dropped a 67-53 road contest at Macalester College. Her career-best 23-point effort—the most points scored by a Knight since Nov. 12, 2022—came thanks to 9-of-14 shooting, a 2-of-3 showing beyond the 3-point line, and a 3-for-3 performance at the charity stripe.
The Knights (1-8, 0-3 MIAC) shot a season-best 41.2 percent from the field, including an impressive 45.5 percent (5-of-11) from beyond the 3-point line. The program's best showing from deep since a 9-for-17 (52.9 percent) effort at Augsburg on Jan. 25, 2023.
Meanwhile, the Carleton defense limited Macalester (7-3, 2-1 MIAC) to only 36.8 percent shooting overall. The Scots did damage on the offensive glass, picking up 23 second chance points on 24 offensive rebounds. They also added 21 points off turnovers.
Carleton shot only 25 percent during the first half and headed into the locker room for halftime trailing 28-17. The Scots maintained a double-digit lead throughout the second half.
The Knights found their shooting stroke after intermission, knocking down a combined 57.7 percent of their shots during the third and fourth quarters, including a 5-of-7 showing from long range.
Carleton trailed 40-20 midway through the third quarter, but and
Addy Huss layup sparked a 9-0 spurt as part of a longer 14-5 run to bring the visitors to within 45-34 with 2:30 to play in the third.

Nayeli Williams layed it in off a steal from Whitney to make it to a 10-point contest, 50-40, but Carleton would get no closer.
Peyton Starks provided the spark for the Scots, dropping 21 points on 22 shots. Her 10 rebounds gave her a double-double. Katherine Nordquist also picked up a double-double, with 13 points and 11 rebounds, including seven offensive boards.
Carleton's top four scorers were rookies. In addition to Whitney's 23-point showing, Huss finished with eight points, six rebounds, four assists, two steals, and a blocked shot.
Liesl McCallum added seven points, plus team bests of seven boards and three blocks.
Taylor Dente made a pair of second-half 3-pointers to account for her six points.

Carleton heads to Martin Luther College for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off on Friday, Dec. 13. That will be the Knights' final contest before taking a break for the holidays.
