INDIANAPOLIS – The No. 18-ranked Carleton College women's cross country team is headed back to the NCAA Division III Championships. The Knights received 1 of 22 at-large berths to the national meet to be held Nov. 23 at the LaVern Gibson Cross Country Course in Terre Haute, Ind.
This will be the 13th consecutive time that Carleton has qualified as a team for the NCAA Championships, the 19th time since 2000, and the 21st time overall.
Carleton, the defending national champions finished third at the NCAA North Region Championships on Saturday. The North Region saw three teams advance to Nationals. The Knights will be joined by No. 11 UW-La Crosse, which earned an automatic bid after winning the regional championship. Meanwhile, No. 14 St. Olaf College, the regional runner up, also received an at-large berth.
The Knights will be joined at the NCAA Championships by Gabe Nichols and Roy Llewellyn of the Carleton men's team, as that duo earned individual qualifying spots.
The women's race at the national championships will begin at 11:00 a.m. ET/10:00 a.m. CT. with the men's race starting at 12:00 p.m. ET/11:00 a.m. CT.
