BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – The Carleton College volleyball team continued its upward trajectory in 2024, and one of the key performers on this year's squad, junior outside hitter
Sylvia Dixon, was voted to the 22-player All-MIAC First Team.
The Knights wrapped up the year with a 13-13 overall record, bettering the combined win total of the previous two seasons and registering their highest victory total since 2016. Carleton has improved its win total in each season under the direction of head coach
Abby Walton.
Dixon, who took home All-MIAC Honorable Mention in 2023, started all 26 matches this fall and paced the Knights with 251 kills. She ranked 12th in the MIAC at 2.85 kills per set during conference matches and 13th with 3.23 points per set in those contests.
Her 44 service aces were one off the team lead and fourth among MIAC players this season. Dixon registered 152 digs overall and added 26 blocks.
She posted double-doubles against Bethel University (14 kills, 10 digs) and St. Scholastica (19 kills, 11 digs) in addition to her first three career matches with more than 20 kills. Dixon established a then-career best with 22 kills against Luther College on Sept. 6, matched that total on Oct. 12 vs. Saint Mary's University, and bettered it with a 24-kill effort against MIAC semifinalist St. Catherine University on Nov. 2.
