INTERNSHIP/EXTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES DURING MY TIME AS A CARLETON STUDENT:
This winter break I had the opportunity to do an externship with Concussion Alliance. Concussion Alliance is a nonprofit organization that works to create awareness about mild traumatic brain injuries and persistent post-concussion symptoms, compile the latest concussion research, and facilitate treatments for these injuries. As an extern, I attend daily meetings, complete concussion-related curriculum, write for their newsletter, and create video content for their social media and website. This past summer I also had the opportunity to work as an SRP with Professor Susannah Ottaway in the History department, funded by the Humanities Center Student Research Fund. Working with Professor Ottaway and a group of student researchers, I got the chance to research English workhouses during the long eighteenth-century as part of a project about these workhouses before the New Poor Law was implemented (1834). As part of our work, we also did a research trip to London to gather evidence at the archives there and visit some of the workhouse sites!
