Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

Despite doubles troubles, Knights manage 9-0 victory over St. Scholastica

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Carleton College men's tennis team celebrated Homecoming with a 9-0 victory over the College of St. Scholastica.

The match started with singles, where the Knights (2-0, 2-0 MIAC) swept all six solo matches.

Yuv Kataria improved to 5-0 all time while playing atop the lineup as he registered a 6-4, 6-1 triumph. Baiyun Jing notched a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 2 singles, and Cooper Kline added a 6-2, 6-0 win at the third slot.

"Cooper set the tone in singles with an amazing display of skill and confidence," said Carleton head coach Stephan Zweifel. "I now believe the rumors from his math professors that he can divide by zero."

Brothers Jasper Yang and Jerome Yang picked up victories at No. 4 and No. 5 singles, respectively. Jasper Yang secured a 6-3, 6-3 while, while Jermone Yang needed to work a little harder to register a 6-2, 7-6 (7-5) result.

Anniketh Vipparla contributed a 6-3, 6-2 win at the sixth slot.

Doubles proved to be more of a challenge as all three contests were nailbiters.

Kataria and Jerome Yang prevailed in regulation with an 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles. The pairing of Jack Rivkin and Jing managed an 8-7 (7-5) win atop the fights, while Vipparla and Jasper Yang were able to grind out an 8-7 (11-9) result at the third slot.
