MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The Carleton College men's soccer team suffered a tough loss to MIAC foe Augsburg University on Wednesday night, as the Knights absorbed a 4-0 setback, snapping the team's three-match unbeaten streak.
Â
The Knights (3-4-2, 1-2 MIAC) and Auggies (6-1-2, 2-1-1 MIAC) were equally matched for most of the game, but Carleton was never able to recover from its poor start.
Â
Before the 10-minute mark, Augsburg was already up 2-0 behind goals by Nick Zuchowski and Kebba Janneh.
Â
Carleton managed 12 shots in the game, but Oscar Herrera was able to stop all three attempts on goal to earn the shutout.
Â
Zuchowski, a first-team All-Region pick last fall, tallied his second goal in the 76th minute, this one via a penalty kick. Augsburg concluded the scored three minutes later.
Â
Jonathan Vonderlage (Fy./Seattle, Wash./Lakeside) tallied two of Carleton's shots on goal, proving yet again to be an attacking threat as an outside back.
Jeremiah Lanzillo (So./Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard West) was the other Knight to force Herrera to make a save.
