NORTHFIELD, Minn. - With both teams coming off 3-0 victories to begin their respective MIAC campaigns, the Carleton College men's soccer team hosted No. 16 Gustavus Adolphus College in a clash of two top-3 teams in the conference last season.
Â
Proving their status as a nationally ranked side and getting revenge from last season's matchup between the two schools, Gustavus (5-0-1, 2-0-0 MIAC) took care of Carleton (2-3-0, 1-1-0 MIAC), holding the hosts scoreless and netting three goals of their own at Bell Field.
Â
The Gusties scored early via a long throw-in that found the heads of a few Gustavus players, the last of whom was Otis Anderson. Anderson would also net a penalty kick in the 82nd minute to cap off his multi-goal effort.
Â
In the 75th minute Alexander Krumenauer was fed a ball by Jared Hecht behind the Carleton back line and scored, which at the time made the score 2-0.
Â
The Knights had their chances but just couldn't get anything on net. Perhaps the most dangerous shot of the afternoon was an attempt by
Owen Flanagan (So./San Francisco, Calif./San Francisco University) in the 76th minute as Carleton tried to answer for Krumenauer's goal, but it missed the target.
Â
Alexei Thomas (Sr./London, United Kingdom/Merchant Taylors School) tallied a save in net while Flanagan and
Briggs Priem (Fy./Milwaukie, Ore./Rex Putnam) each registered a pair of shots for the Knights.

Up Next for the Knights
