Knights take down Saints to remain undefeated

OWATONNA, Minn. – The Carleton College women's tennis team opened its MIAC slate of matches with an 8-1 triumph over College of St. Scholastica. This was the first time these programs have met as conference opponents. Amanda Black (Fy./Libertyville, Ill./Libertyville) won in both singles and doubles.
 
The Knights (5-0, 1-0 MIAC) grabbed the early lead as Taylor Thulson (Sr./Louisville, Colo./Niwot) and Black won 8-3 at No. 1 doubles. Lingyu Wei (Jr./Shanghai, China/Shanghai Weiyu High School) and Sydney Bell (Jr./Lafayette, Calif./Acalanes) added an 8-6 triumph at No. 2 doubles.
 
Upon moving to singles, the Knights swept all six matches. Mary Frances Hose (So./Columbia, Mo./Rock Bridge), Amelia Asfaw (Fy./Seattle, Wash./Seattle Prep), Miriam Shteyman (Fy./Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata), and Black each dropped two or fewer games.
 
St. Scholastica's (3-1, 1-1 MIAC) lone point came at No. 3 doubles by an 8-6 tally.

Carleton's last match of winter term is next Saturday, March 5 as the Knights host Concordia College-Moorhead.
