ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – The Carleton College women's basketball team saw its season-high seven-game win streak snapped as the Knights dropped a 67-63 decision at Bethel University.
Jill Yanai (Sr./Glendale, Calif./Glendale) tallied 18 points to pace Carleton, which came up a season-high 18 steals.
Both teams entered the regular-season finale riding seven-game win streaks, and the game was a tight for much of the evening. The teams were tied at 26-26 at halftime, and neither team led by more than six points until Bethel (18-7, 17-5 MIAC) used a 9-0 run early in the fourth quarter to earn a 53-43 lead with seven minutes remaining.
The Knights faced their largest deficit of the contest at 59-47 with 3:50 remaining, but Carleton clawed back to within 65-63 thanks a 16-6 run capped by
Aiana Whitfield's (Jr./Richfield, Minn./Benilde St.-Margaret's) 3-pointer with 13 seconds still on the clock. The Royals added a pair of late free throws to close out the scoring
Carleton shot 33 percent overall and was 1-of-7 (14 percent) from 3-point range. Bethel made 37 percent of its shots and was 3-of-15 (20 percent) from outside the arc.
Whitfield finished with 17 points and was 1-of-6 Knights with multiple steals in the game.
Jasmine Choi (So./Maple Grove, Minn./Osseo) accounted for 14 points and four steals of her own.
Makenna Pearson totaled a game-high 18 points to lead Bethel, while Hayden Glander posted a double-double after notching 12 points and 10 rebounds.

As the No. 6 seed in the MIAC Playoffs, Carleton will host No. 11 seed Macalester College in the first round on Saturday, Feb. 19. Tipoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
