WINONA, Minn. -- Noah Mueller (Jr./Dubai, UAE/German International School Dubai) won twice in singles and once in doubles as the Carleton College men's tennis team began the 2022 slate with a pair of victories. The Knights opened MIAC play with a 9-0 triumph at Saint Mary's University and added a neutral site, 8-1 win against University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
 
"This was a wonderful way to start the 2022 season," said Carleton head coach Stephan Zweifel. "The long day tested our patience, and for once we were glad the test results were positive!"
 
Mueller won both of this singles matches in straight sets, prevailing at No. 3 singles versus SMU and the No. 5 slot against UW-L. He teamed with Bence Kisgeczi (Sr./Budapest, Hungary/Szent István) for an 8-2 win in second doubles versus Saint Mary's.
 
The Knights nearly completed the double sweep, but Wisconsin-La Crosse got its lone team point with a super tiebreaker win at No. 3 singles. Nine Carleton players registered victories in both singles and doubles on the afternoon.
 
Up Next for the Knights
Carleton will face Wisconsin-Eau Claire at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 12. That match will be played at the Rochester (Minn.) Athletic Club.
