NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Despite a game and career-high 24 from
Jasmine Choi (So./Maple Grove, Minn./Osseo), the Carleton College women's basketball team dropped a 63-48 decision to visiting College of Saint Benedict.
Choi was 10-of-17 from the field and corralled a team-high eight rebounds as she surpassed the 20-point plateau for the second consecutive game.
Jill Yanai (Sr./Glendale, Calif./Glendale) was the only other Carleton (5-12, 4-10 MIAC) player to finish in double figures, totaling 10 points to go along with six rebounds, five assists, and three steals.
Neither team shot particularly well. Carleton connected on 34.5 percent of its attempts while Saint Benedict (11-5, 8-5 MIAC) made 33 percent of its shots. The visitors, however, turned the ball over only five times compared to 17 for the Knights, leading to a 15-4 edge in points off turnovers.
With the contest tied 8-8 after a sluggish opening quarter, Saint Benedict out-scored Carleton 20-12 during both the second and third quarters to carry a 48-32 lead into the final stanza. Even though the Knights shot 64 percent over the final 10 minutes, the Bennies held their own and secured their third consecutive victory.
Sophia Jonas paced Saint Benedict with 13 points, while Carla Meyer chipped in 12 points. Five other players had at least five points for the visitors.
