NORTHFIELD, Minn. - After almost a weeklong break, the Carleton College men's soccer team (5-1-2, 3-0-0 MIAC) returned to action and took down Concordia College-Moorhead (2-7-0, 0-3-0 MIAC) in a 3-1 victory at Bell Field.
Â
Carleton goalkeeper
Elliot Hanson (Jr./Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township) tallied four saves in the game and kept the Cobbers' aggressive attacks at bay all afternoon, while the Knights' offense did its job to give the junior his second win on the season.
Â
The scoring started in the 15th minute.
Trevor Jones (Jr./Urbandale, Iowa/Waukee) sent a free kick into the box and the ball was headed around multiple times.
Marco da Cunha (Sr./San Francisco, Calif./San Francisco University) re-directed the ball over to
Justin Crawmer (Jr./Urbandale, Iowa/Waukee), who put his own head on the ball and scored.
Â
The game remained at 1-0 until the 42nd minute when
Connor Grayzel (Jr./Concord, Mass./Concord Academy) stole the ball in the attacking zone and sent a cross to da Cunha, who with a nifty touch set it up perfectly for
Tonny Aton (Sr./Nairobi, Kenya/Lukenya) to make double the Knights' lead.
Â
Only 31 seconds later, the Cobbers took one back when Albara Mutleq placed a shot from more than 30 yards out perfectly over the reach of a leaping Hanson.
Â
It took until the 70th minute for either team to tack on another goal, and this time it was the other outside back,
Colin Kroll (So./Wilton, Conn./Pomfret School), sending a beautiful cross into the box and finding the head of reigning MIAC player of the week
Tarek Bos-Shadi (Sr./Kankakee, Ill./Bradley Bourbonnais), who netted his third goal in four games.
