DECORAH, Iowa --
Cate Patterson (Jr./Racine, Wis./Prairie School) tallied the game-winning goal in the 88th minute as the Carleton College women's soccer team picked up its second shutout victory of the weekend, this time besting Luther College by a 1-0 margin.
Carleton goalkeeper
Keya Mookencherry (Fy./Winnetka, Ill./New Trier) had four saves in the shutout, including a key stop on a point-blank rebound attempt in the 30th minute and a re-direct of a close-range header in the 58th minute.
The Knights (4-1-2) finally broke the deadlock with 129 seconds remaining.
Annette Shumway (Sr./Arlington, Va./Yorktown) won the ball in the midfield and passed it to Patterson, who dribbled in for 22-yard shot into the lower corner for her fourth goal of the season.
"A huge team effort in today's win" said Carleton head coach
Jessica Mueller. "Every field player came into the game and gave impactful minutes. We stayed really organized defensively against Luther's aggressive 3-4-3 formation. Keya came up huge for us today and made some really incredible saves to help keep the game scoreless."
