NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Carleton College men's tennis team kept its season record unblemished with an 8-1 triumph over visiting Saint Mary's University. Will Stepanski (So./Villa Park, Calif./Villa Park) did not drop a game during his singles match,.
 
"It was appropriate that Will Stapanski was wearing a mask today as he stole the show in singles," said Carleton head coach Stephan Zweifel.
 
Carleton (4-0, 3-0 MIAC) cruised to a sweep in doubles. The top pairing of William Walsh (Jr./San Antonio, Texas/Alamo Heights) and Yuv Kataria (Fy./Kolkata, India/Weil Academy & College Prep) prevailed 8-1, while Aswath Viswanathan (So./Lincolnshire, Ill./Adlai E. Stevenson) and Aniketh Vipparla (Fy./Cary, N.C./Green Hope) proved victorious by an 8-2 margin.
 
Noah Mueller (So./Dubai, UAE/German International School Dubai) and Christof Zweifel (Sr./Northfield, Minn./Northfield) took care of business at third doubles, 8-3.
 
Upon moving to singles play, the Knights quickly clinched the match.
 
Xander Roti's (Jr./Locust Valley, N.Y./Friends Academy) 6-1, 6-0 at first singles improved his career record at that spot in the lineup to 4-0. Walsh made his 2021 debut in singles with a convincing 6-1, 6-0 result at the second slot.
 
Mueller made his first career appearance at third singles and notched the 6-4, 6-2. Viswanathan was victorious at his third different spot in the lineup this season, winning 6-2, 6-1 at fourth singles.
 
Stepanski controlled his fifth singles match from the start, securing the 6-0, 6-0 victory.
 
The lone team point for Saint Mary's (4-8, 2-6 MIAC) came at the final singles match.
 
UP NEXT FOR THE KNIGHTS
Carleton hosts Gustavus Adolphus at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 24. That kicks off a stretch of three matches in three days, including a home contest against Saint John's University and a visit to Concordia College-Moorhead.
