The PEAR Department is taking this opportunity to recognize and celebrate the seniors on our spring sports teams. While we are sad that we were unable to watch them compete this season, we are excited about what the future holds for each of them. Keep checking back in the coming weeks as we take the time to highlight each of these individuals. Click here for our Senior Spotlight archive.

What are your plans after graduation?    Â
I will be attending Quinnipiac University's School of Education Masters in Teaching program for secondary Spanish education.
Â
What was your favorite sports moment at Carleton?     Â
At our third tournament this year, we were placed a little further back after the first round than we normally were. I ended up scoring my personal best, which was great, but then as I got back into the clubhouse, I found out my teammates had also played some of their best golf of the season, and we ended up winning the tournament. It was really fun to have it all come together that day.
Â
Why did you choose Carleton?     Â
I wanted a school that was academically rigorous without being competitive academically and Carleton has a very collaborative environment while still giving me a strong education and challenging me.
Â
Outside of athletics, what will you miss most about Carleton? Â
I will miss my friends and classmates the most. From watching the Bachelor with my roommates to having team dinner to participating in full-class study sessions, the thing that I currently miss the most and will continue to miss is the social part of being at Carleton.
Â
What else has your Carleton experience included?        Â
I studied abroad on the Carleton Madrid program in the fall of 2018. I have also been on leadership for the women's club hockey team for the last three years and I have worked as a TA for the Spanish department for the last two years. I completed two externships, one with Reading Partners teaching reading in NYC public schools and one observing classrooms at a private school.
Â
What is one piece of advice you would give to prospective student-athletes? Â Â
Soak in all the time you can with your teammates on and off the field/court/course. It goes by too fast! Also, if you can, go abroad!! It not only opened my eyes to a lot of different things about the world and myself but also made me appreciate Carleton in a way I hadn't before I went.
Â
What is a favorite memory you have of your head coach?
Matt really cares about all of us players as athletes but more importantly as people in general, and even though he was only my coach for half a season, I think that he has really helped me improve my confidence and my relationship with golf, which both helped me play better than I ever have. One moment that comes to mind when thinking of Matt is that after we got the news that our season was canceled, he sent me a text message thanking me for the fall season and saying that I will always be part of CWG, and that made me feel really good.
Â
Quote from Coach Matt Stangl:
"Kelsey had an amazing senior season and finished her career with pride. If only we could have her back because her golf swing is divine and poised for many more years of great golf. What a season, what a swing!"Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
