NORTHFIELD, Minn. --
Brennan Johnson's (Jr./Portland, Ore./Grant) 90th-minute goal lifted the Carleton College men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over visiting Grinnell College in non-conference action on Sunday.
Johnson entered the weekend leading the MIAC in assists, but this time he was the one to finish, thanks to a perfectly delivered cross from sophomore
Charlie Hall (Lagrange, Ill./Lyons Township).
Carleton (3-1-0) out-shot the Pioneers (2-1-0) by a 20-5 margin and owned an 8-2 edge in corner kicks but were unable to knock the ball past Grinnell goalkeeper Jared Cloutier until the closing minute.
Johnson collected a loose ball 10 yards into the Knights' defensive half, and Carleton built the attack from the back. Eventually, Hall collected a pass to the right wing and maneuvered around his defender before sending the ball across the goal mouth. Johnson calmly finished for his third career goal.
Aaron Forman (Jr./Los Angeles, Calif./Windward School) went the distance between the posts for Carleton as the Knights registered their third shutout of the young season.
UP NEXT FOR THE KNIGHTS: Carleton hosts University of Northwestern-St. Paul on Wednesday, Sept. 11. That match has been pushed back to a 4:45 p.m. start time.
