Alex Battist (So./Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) posted his first career double-double, but the Carleton College men's basketball team turned the ball over 21 times and dropped a 74-60 result at No. 7-ranked University of St. Thomas.
Carleton (1-2, 0-2 MIAC), which was playing a second consecutive top-15 opponent on the road, trailed 4-3 after
Kent Hanson (Sr./St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy) converted a layup with 16:35 remaining in the first half. St. Thomas (5-1, 1-0 MIAC) then put together an extended 33-10 run and maintained a double-digit lead the remainder of the contest.
Jeremy Beckler (Fy./Lino Lakes, Minn./White Bear Lake) tallied 13 points to lead the Knights, while Battist finished with 11 points and a game-high 11 boards.
Isaac Tessier (Fy./White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake) added 11 points as well, while
Beck Page (Fy./Longmont, Colo./Longmont) added eight points, and Hanson returned to the lineup with a six-point, eight-rebound effort.
Zach Theisen and Elijah Hannah came off the bench to score 13 points apiece in leading St. Thomas.
The Tommies shot 43 percent overall and went 14-of-34 (41 percent) from beyond the arc. Carleton shot 45 percent from the field and was 5-of-16 (31 percent) from three-point range.
UP NEXT FOR THE KNIGHTS: Carleton will play a rare home game as the Knights host Bethel University at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 4. That will be Carleton's lone home game between the Nov. 12 season opener and a Jan. 4 doubleheader.
