NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Playing in its final match of the season, the Carleton College volleyball team dropped a three-set match (25-12, 25-22, 25-9) to St. Olaf College on Friday evening.
Abby Loe (Jr./Apple Valley, Minn./Apple Valley) led the Knights with nine kills and a team-high eight digs.
St. Olaf (25-4, 8-3 MIAC) entered the match ranked No. 1 in the Central Region, hit .500 for the match compared to a .151 hitting percentage for the Knights.
After Carleton (6-20, 2-9 MIAC) dropped the opening set, the two teams exchanged leads throughout much of the second frame, before a kill from
Grace Leuchtenberger (Jr./Newton, Mass./Newton South) gave the Knights a 21-20 lead. The road team would get no closer however, as St. Olaf went on to win five of the next six points to take a 2-0 match lead.
St. Olaf closed out the match with a 25-9 win in the third set.
Leuchtenberger tallied seven kills and added three blocks while hitting .353 in the match.
Olivia Powell (Sr./Palos Verdes, Calif./Chadwick) capped her collegiate career with four kills and two blocks.
Inger Shelton (So./San Diego, Calif./La Jolla) led the Knights with 16 assists and added five-digs and two aces.
