Luke Lopez, who joined Carleton College as an assistant volleyball coach in July 2024, quickly proved to be a pivotal addition to the Knights' coaching staff. Lopez's expertise lies in middle blocker development, team blocking schemes, and comprehensive scouting.Â
Lopez brings nine years of coaching experience across both collegiate and club levels. Before arriving at Carleton, he spent a season with Pierce College (2016-17) and five seasons with Minnesota Select (2017-21).Â
His recent club experience includes a significant impact with Northern Lights Volleyball Club. Currently, Lopez serves as the head coach for the Boys 15-1 and Girls 16-Red teams, continuing his leadership with the club. Additionally, in 2025, Lopez assumed the head coaching role for the Eagan Boys High School Volleyball program, where he guided them to an impressive 21-9 record and a third-place finish in their conference.Â
Prior to his tenure at Carleton, Lopez held various positions with Minnesota Select Volleyball Club from 2017-21. This period overlapped with three seasons as a coach at Rogers (Minn.) High School. He also played a key role in establishing the White Bear Lake (Minn.) High School boys' program in 2023. In the same year, he joined Northern Lights Volleyball Club, where he was a staff member for the 16-Black team that secured a fifth-place finish at the 2024 AAU national tournament.Â
Lopez completed his bachelor's degree at Concordia-St. Paul in 2024 and is currently working on his master's degree at Concordia-St. Paul in Sports Administration.Â
