Gerald Young returned to the Knights football coaching staff prior to the 2026 season, assisting with the defensive line. He spent 17 seasons (1992-2008) as an assistant coach for the Knights, including 14 years as defensive coordinator. During his tenure at Carleton, Young also served as an assistant softball coach for 10 years and worked with the men’s and women’s track and field programs. In 2001, he was promoted to Associate Athletic Director and took over as Carleton’s Athletic Director in 2010. After 14 years overseeing the Physical Education, Athletics, and Recreation (PEAR) Department and 32 years of service overall at the College, Young retired in July 2024.
He resides in Northfield with his wife, Ann Wieber-Young. The couple has two adult children and one grandchild.
