OFF-CAMPUS STUDY PROGRAM(S) PARTICIPATED IN AT CARLETON:
I studied in Southeast Asia my junior winter on the Political Economy and Ecology in Southeast Asia program. We traveled around Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Indonesia, connecting our experiences to theories and concepts that explain political development and ecological issues relating to the challenges of nationalism, state formation, regional integration, regional development, the rise of the power of non-state actors, and the struggles for citizen-sovereignty.

It challenged me to think outside of the box and live outside my comfort zone.
 
INTERNSHIP/EXTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES DURING MY TIME AS A CARLETON STUDENT:
Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota (Summer 2024), American Bar Association Commission on Immigration (Summer 2025), National Council on Teacher Quality (Summer 2025).
 
Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota is a non-profit organization that provides free immigration legal representation to low-income immigrants & refugees in MN. I worked directly with clients on their DACA renewal and naturalization cases. The ABA Commission on Immigration directs efforts to ensure fair treatment and full due process rights for immigrants, asylum-seekers, and refugees within the United States. I worked with the Commission on running their hotlines for people held in US immigration detention centers, monitoring immigration courts to gather data on removal proceedings under the current administration, and researching country conditions for asylum seekers. The National Council on Teacher Quality is a nonpartisan research and advocacy organization that works to ensure every child has a quality teacher. I led their research on paid parental leave policies for teachers across the country.
