INTERNSHIP/EXTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES DURING MY TIME AS A CARLETON STUDENT:
This past summer, I interned at MANA Battery Inc., a startup company in Boulder, Colorado. I contributed to the company goals by building anodes, constructing battery cells, and testing their capacities. I also programmed a plotter for rate testing using Jupyter Python notebooks for data analysis. The data will be used to improve battery design and for presentations to current and future customers. Two summers ago, I contributed to a pilot study with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) at the James J. Howard laboratory in Sandy Hook, NJ. I worked with my mentors to test the condition of river herring fish through lipid analysis. Eventually, the results of this study will provide information about the effectiveness of mitigation efforts such as dam removal in NJ, NY, and ME in restoring the historically low herring populations among other wildlife.
