My study abroad program allowed me to dive into a rich sporting environment where I learned greatly about soccer (“football”) culture and made everlasting memories with some of my teammates who were also on the trip. The Carleton Trimester system gave me the opportunity to go abroad for something completely unrelated to my major. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that allowed me to study the history of sports and more specifically soccer in both London and Seville.
INTERNSHIP/EXTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES DURING MY TIME AS A CARLETON STUDENT:
I was awarded the Kolenkow-Reitz Fellowship in 2020 where I did research with Dr. Fang at Des Moines University. Also, Brigham & Women's Hospital.

At Des Moines University I helped with immunology research and manuscript writing. I worked partly in the lab, but sadly due to Covid-19 I performed most of my work virtually. This experience strengthened my scientific ability and was a great learning opportunity!
At Brigham, I will be be reviewing MRI and radiographic imaging of arthritic joints, wherein I will be making anatomical measurements on each image. My role will improve software image analysis methods to quantify structural changes in musculoskeletal diseases.
Both experiences have exposed me to academic research and have been influential in my development as a student.
