Attending the Sports and Globalization program changed how I view other people and their culture. Gaining another degree of autonomy during those 10 weeks gave me a whole new perspective on the kind of person that I want to be after graduating from Carleton. Since many other student-athletes attended the program, I naturally got a lot closer to those that participated. I feel like that shared connection gave us a greater understanding of what our objectives are both in our respective sports as well as in our academic and professional careers.
 
INTERNSHIP/EXTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES DURING MY TIME AS A CARLETON STUDENT:
Catholic University of America/ Vitreous State Laboratory and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory –  During the summer, I worked in a biophysics lab studying how magnetic tweezers manipulate DNA polymers.

It allowed me to understand the positives and negatives of a physics graduate program, which is one of the avenues that I will have to contemplate as I enter my final year at Carleton.
