Mack Journell '20 joined the coaching staff prior to the 2020 campaign. He played three seasons at Carleton (2016, 2018, and 2019) and closed his time with the Knights with 174 career receptions for 2,079 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns. Those figures ranked fifth, sixth, and sixth, respectively, in team history when he graduated. Journell was an All-MIAC selection in 2019 after he paced conference wide receivers and ranked 16th across NCAA Division III with 74 catches on the year, tied for the second-highest single-season total in program history. He totaled 879 receiving yards and nine touchdowns in 2019 as a senior, with those figures ranking fifth and third in the conference and 65th and 59th in Division III (245 teams). He spent the 2017 football season playing at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Indiana. DUring his time at Carleton, Journell also threw the javelin during the outdoor track & field season and was also a three-time qualifier for the MIAC Championships.
