POST-CARLETON GOAL(S)…
Work in the finance industry and then pursue a higher degree of education if needed.
I CHOSE TO COME TO CARLETON BECAUSE…
I chose to come to Carleton for a rigorous education and for its diverse population. small class sizes, best undergraduate teaching, and small college size.
WHAT I MOST LIKE ABOUT CARLETON IS…
The atmosphere that the students and professors bring to the table. Each term is the like a hike up a mountain; some spots are smooth and easy to navigate while others may be rocky and hard. Though at the end, we all make it on top with newly acquired skills and experience, ready for the next hike.
OFF-CAMPUS STUDY OPPORTUNITIES DURING MY TIME AS A CARLETON STUDENT:
Economics in Cambridge. This OCS program has enhanced my experience as a student athlete by providing a new atmosphere to learn in beyond the states. I have become a more well- rounded person, I met Carleton students that I had not before, and I learned about how the US is perceived internationally. Overall, I highly recommend that student athletes do an OCS program.
INTERNSHIP/EXTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES DURING MY TIME AS A CARLETON STUDENT:
Commonwealth Financial Networks. At my internship, I worked underneath the Business Intelligence Team; our main goal was to consult financial advisors to become more like a business owner through data-oriented results.
Renaissance Development. My team and I produced an Excel sheet that had information on the different developer's plans as well as timelines. This created a link to what the developers should expect to be built in the upcoming years and how they can market their own product to either compete or work with other developers.
Twain Financials. I gathered data on potential solar farming sites and potential loan servicing softwares that could enhance the efficency of how Twain manages loans.
Citizens Bank. During my time at Citizens, I had exposure to the asset-backed financing world in which lies in a niche part the debt financing market. Here, I learned much about the industry such as observing tranches, how to process term and ABS deals, and the importance of comparison tables for certain deal types. Along the way, I was able to pick up new transferable skills within Excel, Powerpoint and Word as well as the importance of "ATD," or attention to detail. These experiences have enhanced my communication skills and made me more well-rounded. I got a glimpse of what working in the real world was like as well as more insight into what I want to pursue after graduating from Carleton.
