INTERNSHIP/EXTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES DURING MY TIME AS A CARLETON STUDENT:
ADNET Systems Inc. As a Data Scientist Intern at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in the Hydrological Sciences Lab, I supported a critical study on the Upper Mississippi River Basin's soil moisture network. My main responsibilities included processing and quality-checking soil moisture data, conducting statistical analyses, and converting this data into a format compatible with the Land Information System. This work aimed to enhance climate and hydrological applications by improving the accuracy of SMAP satellite data assimilation. Additionally, at MIAC Analytics, I developed a commercial mortgage data model to be used in newer loan portfolio valuation software. I also assisted with other projects related to managing and updating current software that was sold to clients and used by MIAC's analysts. This gave me insight into what a career in data analytics may look like.
